Dead Tree Digest turns articles you choose to save into a printed magazine mailed to you. These are the terms of that arrangement, in plain language. Using the service means you agree to them.
You save articles as you browse, using the extension or by forwarding email. When your queue fills an issue, we typeset those articles, print one copy, and mail it to your address. Every issue contains only what you yourself saved. We never fill pages with content you didn't choose, and your issues are never shown, sold, or sent to anyone else.
There are no passwords. Access works through your save token and the links we email you. Treat those like keys: anyone holding them can save to your library or change your settings. You're responsible for what gets saved through your account and addresses.
The service makes a single copy of a page, at your direction, for your own reading. That only works if you hold up your end:
We can suspend or close accounts that abuse this, and we do close the accounts of repeat copyright infringers.
If you're a rights holder and believe material stored on our service infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to our designated agent:
Copyright Agent, Dead Tree Digest
Email: keanan+deadtreedigest@floorboardai.com
Registered with the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory, registration โ DMCA-1076631. Our mailing address is listed in the directory.
Your notice should include: identification of the copyrighted work; identification of the material you believe infringes and where it lives on our service; your contact information; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you're authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature.
We'll remove or disable access to the material expeditiously and notify the user who saved it. That user may send a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. ยง 512(g); if they do, we'll follow the process the statute lays out.
Issues are printed and shipped by our print partner, Lulu. Your address is used for exactly that. If an issue arrives damaged or misprinted, email us and we'll send a new copy. Otherwise, all sales of printed matter are final: we can't unprint a magazine.
The subscription bills monthly through Stripe. Cancel anytime; billing stops at the end of the period you've paid for, and we stop printing. Your library stays available for you to export or delete.
The service is provided as-is. We work hard to make every issue perfect, but we don't warrant uninterrupted service, and we aren't responsible for the content of the articles you save; those belong to their authors and publishers. Our total liability to you is capped at the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll email you before the change takes effect. The current version always lives at this page.
